A tradition that started 7 years ago was organised and celebrated this year as well. Kurukshetra 2016, the Inter-Intra Collegiate Festival of M.L Dahanukar College of Commerce provides a platform for many to show case their talents in different fields.
The theme, ‘Make in India’ was a huge success and its mascot- ‘The Lion’ a notable choice. Just like the lion, the students aspire to become pioneers and wish to reach new heights.
This year the pattern of Kurukshetra was changed from Departmental Events to Events categorized based on their nature. The Festival showcased diverse events, ranging from entertainment through Music, Fashion Show, Dramatics, Photography, Dance and Sports Events - both Indoor and Outdoor, to helping students witness the corporate life through events like Budding Tycoon and Mock Stock, and Co-Curricular Events like Co-Academic Gaming, Quiz and LAN Gaming. An Exhibition displaying works in IT, Banking, Environment and Photography, a Fun-n-Fair, Elocution (Hindi, English and Marathi), Fine Arts, and a Treasure Hunt that concluded at Vasai Fort, were also a part of the four day Festival.
An estimated footfall of 2,500 students attended the festival. Celebrities such as Sumeet Raghavan and RJ Gaurav graced the occasion with their presence. Celebrity judges such as Abhishri Sen, Vignesh Joshi and Akshata Sawant were also a part of the festival.
The Festival would not have been successful without the constant support of the Principal, Dr. Madhavi Pethe. Kurukshetra 2016 was a grand event, and an awaited phenomenon for many years to follow.
